DRIVER PRIVACY POLICY

1. INTRODUCTION

Zero Rideshare Inc. (“Zero” “we” “us” “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our Captains. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we retain it, and your rights regarding your personal data.

Zero Rideshare is a platform that connects riders with independent drivers for transportation services. Zero does not provide transportation services directly.

This policy applies to all Captains registered on the Zero Platform across all states where Zero operates. This policy is intended to comply with applicable privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”), the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (“CTIA”) guidelines, and all other applicable state and federal privacy regulations.

Certain features or services within the Zero Platform may be governed by additional or separate terms, policies, or disclosures. Where applicable you will be provided with clear notice at the time you access or use those features.

By registering as a Captain on Zero you consent to the collection and use of your personal data as described in this policy.

2. DATA WE COLLECT

2.1 Registration Data

  • Home address
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Driver’s licence number and issuing state
  • Vehicle details — make model year colour and licence plate number
  • Vehicle photographs — both interior and exterior
  • Bank account details
  • Profile photograph
  • Saved locations such as home or work
  • Gender
  • Age
  • Preferences and profile settings
  • Government identification number for background verification where permitted by law
  • Tax identification and reporting information where required by applicable law
  • Social Security Number where legally permitted

We may use trusted third-party service providers to perform identity verification, background checks, payment processing, fraud prevention, and compliance-related services.

We may collect tax-related information as required by applicable federal, state, or local laws for purposes including tax reporting obligations, driver earnings reporting, payment processing compliance, identity verification, and fraud prevention.

SSN and government identification protection

Where we collect Social Security Numbers or government identification numbers we apply encryption in transit and at rest, access limited to authorised personnel only, use solely for stated purposes, applicable breach notification requirements, and no sharing for marketing purposes.

2.2 Background Verification Data

To help maintain platform safety and comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements we may engage third-party background verification providers to conduct background screenings, driving record checks, and continuous MVR monitoring.

Background verification services may include criminal background checks, identity verification, driving history and licence status checks, and continuous MVR monitoring where permitted by law.

Limited access to background reports

Zero generally receives only the status or outcome of the verification process. Zero does not store or retain the complete contents of background check reports unless required by applicable law, regulatory obligations, dispute handling, or safety-related investigations.

Driver rights under FCRA

2.3 Insurance Verification Data

We use an insurance verification provider to verify your insurance coverage. We collect policy status, policy type, insurance provider name, and policy expiry date and renewal date. Insurance verification may be performed during onboarding and periodically thereafter. The information collected is used solely for driver eligibility verification, safety and compliance, fraud prevention, and regulatory requirements. We do not use insurance verification information for marketing purposes.

2.4 Location Data

Zero Platform collects location data to provide, improve, and ensure the safety of our services including ride matching, navigation, trip tracking, safety features, pricing calculation, and customer support. We collect both precise location (GPS-level data) and approximate location based on IP address, Wi-Fi, mobile network, or Bluetooth, depending on your device settings and permissions.

When location data is collected

  • Foreground use: Location data is collected when you open and actively use the Zero app
  • Background use: Location data is collected while you are online or in driver mode
  • After app use: Location data may be collected for a limited period after exiting driver mode solely for safety purposes such as detecting and resolving ride-related incidents

User control

Location data is collected only with your explicit permission through your device settings. You can enable or disable location permissions at any time. Disabling location access may affect Platform functionality.

2.5 Driving Behaviour Data

We may collect driving behaviour and telematics data including vehicle speed, acceleration patterns, braking behaviour, route and navigation data, trip start and end times, trip duration, distance travelled, and GPS data. We do not sell telematics or driving behaviour data to third parties for independent marketing purposes.

2.6 Earnings and Transaction Data

We collect records of all trips and financial transactions including trip date, time, duration, distance, route, trip fare, charges collected from rider, earnings amount, payout date and amount, and bank account details.

2.7 Communications Data

We collect records of communications between you and Zero including in-app text messages, email communications, support tickets, call recordings where permitted by law, audio and video recordings where permitted by law, ratings and reviews, feedback and complaints, survey responses, and Zero Key referral activity.

California two-party consent notice

California law requires the consent of all parties to a conversation before it may be recorded. Where audio or video recording occurs in connection with the Zero Platform all parties will be explicitly notified and their consent obtained before any recording begins.

2.8 Device Data

We collect information about your device including device type and model, operating system and version, app version, unique device identifiers, advertising identifiers, IP address, mobile network and carrier information, browser type, language preferences, and push notification tokens.

2.9 Biometric Data

In certain jurisdictions photographs and recordings may constitute biometric identifiers or biometric information under applicable law including the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (“BIPA”) and similar state laws. Where applicable we will obtain your explicit written consent before collecting biometric data, provide clear notice of the purpose and duration of collection, not sell or profit from biometric data, and comply with all applicable state biometric privacy laws.

2.10 Contacts and Address Book Access

With your explicit permission you may allow Zero to access your device contacts to support features such as referrals. You can revoke this access at any time through your device settings.

2.11 Calendar Information

With your permission Zero may access your calendar to provide optional features. You can revoke access at any time through your device or account settings.

2.12 Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies to understand app usage and performance, improve functionality and user experience, maintain security and prevent fraud, and provide relevant content where permitted. You can manage or disable certain tracking technologies through your device or browser settings.

2.13 Inferences

We may generate insights based on the information we collect to improve our services and personalise your experience. These inferences are used solely for service improvement, personalisation, and operational purposes and not for unlawful profiling.

2.14 Usage Information

We collect information about how you use the Zero Platform including trip details, information about promotions or referral codes used, and interactions with the app including pages viewed, features used, and timestamps.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

3.1 To operate the Platform

3.3 To comply with legal obligations

3.4 To improve the Platform

3.5 Marketing and Advertising

We may use your information to send updates, offers, and marketing communications related to Zero services. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time through your account settings or by following unsubscribe instructions.

3.6 Automated Decision-Making

We use automated systems and algorithms for matching riders with drivers, calculating fares, detecting fraud, and enforcing platform rules. These processes are designed to enhance efficiency, safety, and user experience and are subject to appropriate safeguards.

3.7 To communicate with you

Communications may include earnings statements, trip receipts, policy updates, safety alerts, onboarding reminders, support responses, platform announcements, and Zero Key rewards updates. Communications may be delivered through in-app notifications, email, SMS, push notifications, and phone calls where permitted by law.

4. DATA SHARING

4.1 Sharing between Zero users

To enable ride services we share limited information between riders and drivers. Information shared with riders: driver name profile photo and rating, vehicle details, real-time location during the trip, and driver profile information.

Information shared with drivers: rider name profile photo and rating, pickup and drop-off locations and route, general rider statistics, and optional profile information.

4.2 Rides requested by third parties

If a ride is requested or paid for by another party such as an employer or corporate account we may share relevant trip details with that party.

4.3 Linked accounts

If you link your account with others or enable sharing features we may share trip status and live location as relevant to that feature.

4.4 Service providers

We share your data with service providers who help us operate the Platform. All service providers are required to handle data in accordance with applicable privacy and security obligations.

4.5 Regulatory authorities

We share your data with applicable TNC regulatory authorities and law enforcement as required by law.

4.6 Safety disclosures

We may share your data with emergency services or law enforcement where there is an immediate risk to safety.

4.7 Business transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, financing, restructuring, or bankruptcy proceedings your data may be transferred to the successor entity.

4.8 Data sales

Zero does not sell your personal data to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

6. YOUR RIGHTS

6.1 Right to access

You may request a copy of your personal data by contacting support@zero-ride.com. Zero will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

6.2 Right to correct

You may correct inaccurate data through the Zero app or by contacting support@zero-ride.com.

6.3 Right to delete

You may request deletion of your personal data subject to Zero’s legal and regulatory retention obligations. Upon deletion your personal information will be deleted or anonymised in accordance with applicable laws. Certain information may be retained where necessary for legal compliance, fraud prevention, safety, and dispute resolution.

6.4 Account deletion

You may request deletion of your account at any time through the app or by contacting us. Certain information may be retained where required by law, ongoing investigations, or legal obligations.

6.5 Right to data portability

You may request your personal data in a commonly used format.

6.6 Profile and account information

You can review, update, or correct your account information at any time through your profile settings in the app including personal details, saved addresses, and preferences.

6.7 Right to opt out of marketing

You may opt out of non-essential communications through the app settings or by contacting support@zero-ride.com.

6.8 CCPA rights — California residents

6.9 Jurisdiction-specific rights

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia may have additional rights including the right to access, correct, delete, or port personal information, the right to opt out of targeted advertising, and the right to non-discrimination. 6.10 FCRA rights

7. DATA SECURITY

7.1

Zero implements security measures including encryption, access controls, and regular security reviews to protect your personal data.

7.2

While we take steps to protect your information no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data including protection against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction by third parties.

7.3

In the event of a data breach Zero will take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable law including breach notification requirements.

7.4

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Zero app login credentials and Zero Key.

8. LOCATION DATA

8.1

Zero collects your GPS location when you are active on the Platform.

8.2

Your location is shared with matched riders for the purpose of trip pickup and navigation.

8.3

Location data is retained for 12 months and then anonymised.

8.4

You may control location sharing through your device settings or within the app where available. Disabling location access may affect the functionality of certain services including ride matching and tracking.

9. SMS AND COMMUNICATIONS CONSENT

9.1 Email communications

You may opt out of promotional emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link. Service- related communications will continue.

9.2 SMS consent

By providing your mobile phone number you consent to receive SMS messages related to your account, onboarding, authentication, security, rides, transactions, and service notifications. These may include OTP codes, verification codes, authentication messages, onboarding updates, ride alerts, and account notifications. Message frequency may vary based on your activity.

9.3 Message and data rates

Message and data rates may apply. Contact your wireless provider for details.

9.4 Opt out

Reply STOP to unsubscribe from SMS. Reply HELP for support. Reply START to re-enable. Disabling certain messages may affect Platform functionality.

9.5 Mobile number privacy

Mobile phone numbers will not be sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.

9.6 Consent confirmation

By submitting your phone number you confirm you are the authorised user of that number, you consent to transactional and authentication SMS messages, and your consent is not a condition of any purchase.

9.7 OTP security

OTP messages are for account authentication only. Do not share your OTP or verification code with anyone.

9.8 Push notifications

You can enable or disable push notifications at any time through your device settings. Disabling notifications may limit your ability to receive real-time updates.

10. THIRD PARTY SERVICES

The Zero app may integrate with third-party services. Zero is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third- party services you access through the Platform.

11. CHILDREN

The Zero Platform is not intended for children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child under 13 we will take appropriate steps to delete such information. If you believe a minor has registered contact support@zero-ride.com.

12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

Zero reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the Zero app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
